embroidery workshop! this saturday. 11:00a. downtown credo.
this ain’t just yo’ grandma’s cross stiches. if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to embellish your own clothes, add little details to projects, decorate fabric with designs, or add other materials like beads and sequins, come! you see it all the time in places like anthropologie, come and learn how to do it yourself!
janelle will be taking us through starting a project that you’ll be able to bring home. we will learn basic skills of preparing the fabric, using the hoop, and threading the needle. we’ll learn some traditional embroidery stitches like the split stitch, stem stitch, back stitch, satin stitch, and french knot. with the skills learned you will be able to continue making beautiful pieces of art or simply embellish items of your own. so bring your creativity and lets get stitching!
if you have any found, inherited, or vintage linen you’d like to use as your base, bring it. also feel free to bring stencils or quotes you would like to include. if not, we will provide everything you need!
if you’re a seasoned embroider, come with questions and/or a project you’ve started. janelle has lots of experience and a fibers degree from SCAD, she’ll be able offer help and kind words.
you won’t want to miss it!
